Is it possible to import an X-Plane aircraft file, and will the physics of the plane be similar to those in X-Plane? Of course, I understand that I would need to develop a parser, etc., but I’m specifically interested in the physics and controls.

Hi very late reply to this but short answer is that there is no easy way to import an X-Plane file into Aerodynamic Objects. But you would end up with similar physics if you created it from scratch in AO (both tools use blade element for the aerodynamics). X-plane is obviously targetted at flight simulation whereas AO is a more general aerodynamics tool that can be used for flight simulation. As an AO flight simulation example we built a model of an Albatross UAV https://youtu.be/Ys2wj1iIz4U Use of AO rather than X-Plane allows more customisation of the model, but of course X-Plane may be faster out of the box
